The Epsom & Ewell u3a Historic Short Walks Group is ideal for members who enjoy gentle urban walks while discovering the rich history of London and the surrounding area. The group meets on the last Friday of each month, exploring historic streets, hidden alleys, fascinating landmarks, parks and neighbourhoods, with plenty of opportunities to learn about the people and events that have shaped them. Walks are planned at a relaxed pace, allowing time to appreciate the history, architecture and local stories along the way. It's a wonderful way to combine light exercise, sightseeing, learning and friendship while uncovering places you may never have noticed before.

Our walks have included the perimeter of the City of London viewing the surviving pieces of the Roman Wall, Borough High Street (start of Roman Stane Street) viewing historic sites including the George Inn, John Harvard's house and the site of Chaucer's Tabard Inn and Charles Dickens own parish church, featured in 'Little Dorritt'.
